Young Boys vs Astana Predictions

Despite both Young Boys and Astana being just three points adrift of Olympiakos and four off leaders APOEL coming into the final game of the Europa League group stages, both are already eliminated. This is thanks to both teams only taking one point off Olympiakos, meaning that even if either of them draws level on points they will go out on head to head results.

This leaves just pride on the line for these two, and both are looking in fairly decent form as they come into the clash. Young Boys’ 3-1 victory over Basel on Saturday made it seven wins, two draws, and just one defeat from their last ten outings in all competitions. This puts them 2nd in the Swiss Super League, although despite their impressive win at the weekend they are still 12 points adrift of Basel.

Astana’s last game was their 2-1 victory over APOEL last month, with their domestic season already wrapped up and ending with them taking the Kazakhstan Premier League title by two points ahead of Kairat. They have won four and drawn three of their last seven games.

Away from home it’s been a bit more of a struggle for Astana though. They have only won one of their last five outings and lost to both Olympiakos and Kairat in this time. By stark contrast, Young Boys have won six matches on the bounce at home, scoring a huge 24 goals and conceding five to make for some very entertaining football.

Young Boys’ major driving force behind this impressive attacking run is 32 year old striker Guillaime Hoarau. The Frenchman has scored 16 goals in 15 league and European appearances this season and has scored 13 of these in his eight home games, and he is also the only player to find the net in the Europa League for Young Boys this season. Backing him to score anytime at 6/4 looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

This actually looks like the best bet overall for this game. Hoarau has netted seven goals in his last four home games and scored a hat trick against APOEL in October, so backing him at 6/4 is what I’m going for alongside a 3-1 correct score predictions at 12/1.
