AC Milan vs Chievo Predictions

AC Milan edged out Sassuolo last weekend to keep their hopes of making the Europa League next season alive. That win moved them within a point of rivals Inter, who are currently in sixth. The Rossoneri have been boosted by the Coppa Italia semi-finals, given that all four of those sides are currently sitting in the top five places in Serie A. That means sixth should be good enough for a European spot. Milan are hoping to take that place, and their strong record against Chievo should help their push for continental football.

This clash is very different from their first meeting this term, which finished 3-1 to AC at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. Chievo went in to that game flying high in the table, they looked like potential dark horses for a place in Europe. That defeat saw them plummet down the table, while it kickstarted a strong run for Milan, who were contenders for a Champions League spot at the turn of the year. The return game sees the Rossoneri struggling to make the Europa League, while the Gialloblu are in the bottom half of the table.

While both sides have had their problems, they do seem to be on their way back. Chievo have won three of their last five matches, including victories in their last two away trips. Like Milan, the Gialloblu also won at Sassuolo recently. That 3-1 victory formed a part of their strong scoring record in their travels, which has seen Ceo find the net in six straight games on the road.

Chievo should be able to add to their scoring run on Saturday night, especially after grabbing a goal at the San Siro recently. The Gialloblu lost 3-1 against Inter in January. They are odds on to suffer another defeat here, with Milan winning three of their last four Serie A matches to spark a revival. That’s just about kept them in the race for Europe. However, the Rosoneri have conceded in four straight matches at home, while they’ve seen both teams score in seven of their last 10 games.

Milan aren’t high scorers, but they have managed to find the net in 77% of their outings at San Siro in the league. Meanwhile, Chievo have scored in 73% of their Serie A matches. With both sides coming in to this game in good scoring form, both teams to score seems well priced at 19/20 with bet365. Milan have managed to win four of their last six matches against the Gialloblu, so we’re backing them to edge out a 2-1 victory, which is priced at 7/1 with bet365.
