FC Porto vs Boavista Predictions

  • Porto have won their last five games in all competitions.
  • Both teams have scored in three of Porto’s last four home league games
  • Both teams have scored in six of Boavista’s last seven away Primeira Liga games.

Porto must prevail against city rivals Boavista

Porto are on a roll at the moment and will not baulk in their quest to close down Benfica when faced by city rivals Boavista on Sunday. Sergio Conceicao’s side have won their last five in all competitions to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games and this momentum could carry them all the way to the title.

They still need the leaders to slip up in two more games, but all they can do is look after their own results and performances. That they should do here against a Boavista team playing for nothing but pride.

The Chequered Ones secured their place in the Primeira for another tear last week when they took down Rio Ave 3-2 at home. The nature of that see-saw affair was a little surprising as Boavista have not been able to produce much free-flowing football this season.

Have Boavista broken free of their shackles?

But it is possible that the shackles will be let off further now they are safe and that could make them dangerous to Porto.

The Dragons are an experienced side and have the tools to come through this test with flying colours. They are much better at the back with Pepe in the side to organise and cajole and got a solid 2-0 win at Pacos Ferreira last weekend.

Backing Poirto to win and both teams to score makes sense given Boavista have scored in six of their last seven away Primeira Liga games – as have their opponents.
