      Reims vs Amiens Predictions

Reims have been the league’s surprise package this season with them winning Ligue 2 last year and continuing that momentum into this campaign where they have stunned the highest of opponents with wins over Monaco (1-0), Lyon (1-0) and Marseille (2-1). They currently sit 6th with them just two points away from a Europa League spot, a goal that is looking all the more achievable with every win.

They are currently unbeaten since the start of December and have won four of their last five games in Ligue 1. They started off the season finding it terribly hard to score but this has vastly improved since as they have scored 13 goals in their last six games. They have had to sacrifice some of their defensive strength to do that as they have kept just three clean sheets in their last 13 matches but the rewards for being more attacking have been great with fans now fully behind a late charge for European football.

Amiens will be looking to capitalise on some potential complacency though as they have their own aspirations for the rest of the season: don’t get relegated. Christophe Pélissier’s men have teetered around the relegation zone for much of this season but two recent wins have been crucial for les Unicorns. They managed to beat a woeful Caen side 1-0 but managed to back that up with a much more impressive impressive over Patrick Vieira’s Nice side.

This has given them a four point gap over Caen in 18th and has reinstalled some belief that Amiens may be able to stay up this season. Both of these wins came at home though, where they have won the vast majority of their points this season. With them on the road for this game, we think Reims will make them suffer.

Amiens really dominated the game last week with four shots on target while restricting Nice to none. They should go into this match with some confidence because of that but due to their horrible away form of three consecutive losses and just eight points picked up on the road, Reims should get the victory here. Reims have won six of their last nine home games and we’re backing them to continue that here against an Amiens side with just two away wins all season. We’re also going to back both teams to score as this has been the case in the last three meetings of the two sides. Amiens have also scored in five of their last nine away games, and with this market winning in nine of Reims’ last dozen games, we’re backing it to happen again here in a 3-1 win for the hosts as they have been in great scoring form.
