This week the European Tour heads to Yas Links for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the PGA Tour action comes from California in the shape of the American Express as part of the West Coast Swing.

Racing Post golf expert Steve Palmer has picked his winners for the two events and together they combine for an 84/1 double, which he recommends backing as an each-way bet covering the top five places in each tournament.

Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship & American Express Winners Double

Each-way double fans are probably licking their lips in anticipation as this week’s golf tournaments approach. The Abu Dhabi Championship and The American Express provide some wonderful options – and the recommended attack is to play a pair of Californians at 84/1.

Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay performed in a similar fashion in their first start of the year – in the Sentry Tournament of Champions – and this top-class duo can build on their Hawaii efforts by claiming silverware on Sunday.

The Abu Dhabi Championship has moved to a new course this year – Yas Links – and it seems that accurate approach-play is the key to success. Morikawa, arguably the best iron-player of his generation, should thrive there. His last trip to the Middle East resulted in him winning both the DP

World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai, so the two-time Major champion will be confident of making an impression in the desert again. The world number two closed with a final-round 62 in Hawaii last time out, falling in love with his new TaylorMade Stealth driver.

Cantlay delivered a solid four-round performance, quickly shedding rust from three months away from competition, and the FedEx Cup champion seems certain to be a huge factor this year as well.

The American Express, being staged in his home state, appears the perfect assignment for Cantlay, world number four, to showcase his all-round class. He carded a final-round 61 to finish second in the AmEx last year.

Morikawa and Cantlay both struck their ball superbly in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, but lacked sharpness on and around the greens in their first start of the year. Better can be expected this week and when paired at 15/2 and 9/1, this dynamic duo are an 84/1 chance.
