The first midweek round of Premier League action for the season includes some big matches, including Wednesday’s Merseyside derby. With every game broadcast live on Amazon Prime, this is a great time to delve a bit deeper into each match than our usual Premier League predictions.

We’ve gone through all the midweek action to produce two player specials tips, a 6/1 double across Tuesday’s matches and then a 14/1 accumulator from Wednesday’s six games. You can back both tips and see all of our selections below.

Premier League player specials tips

6/1 Double for Tuesday

Allan Saint-Maximin 2+ shots on target (Newcastle vs Norwich)

Saint-Maximin was able to liven up Steve Bruce’s Tyneside tenure, so expect him to thrive under Eddie Howe. The former Bournemouth boss was able to get wingers playing well off Callum Wilson, so expect similar from him at Newcastle.

Saint-Maximin averages 1.2 shots on target per home game this season, but he’s not going to get a better home fixture than this Norwich side. No side has conceded more shots on target in the league this season (68 in 13 games) so back ASM to trouble them with a couple of accurate shots.

Kalvin Phillips 1+ shots (Leeds vs Crystal Palace)

While I’ve gone with an away win in my predictions for this clash, the visitors haven’t got a stellar record at the back this term. No side has conceded more set piece goals than Crystal Palace, which offers a chance for some Leeds players to trouble the Eagles.

Kalvin Phillips averages 0.9 shots per game this term, while he performs slightly better at home than away. The majority of his attempts come from set pieces, averaging 0.6 shots per home game from set piece situations. Palace concede 6.3 shots per away game from set plays, so Phillips at evens is good value to attempt a single shot.

14/1 Accumulator for Wednesday

Mohamed Elyounoussi 1+ shots on target (Southampton vs Leicester)

Leicester’s 9-0 win always hangs over this feature but its the Foxes’ defence which is causing alarm. Only Norwich have conceded more shots on target than Brendan Rodgers’ men this term and that should help a Saints side who are coming into their own at home.

Elyounoussi has had 2.2 shots per home game and given how Leicester are playing he’s a real threat. Back the winger to get at least one on target against the Foxes.

Pablo Fornals 1+ shots on target (West Ham vs Brighton)

Fornals has scored four times in 13 league games and he’s hit three of those in six home matches. The Spaniard has a solid record at the London Stadium, averaging 2 shots per game, hitting 0.8 on target per match. Brighton have seen their good start fall apart and they’ve been conceding far too many shots of late, which makes Fornals look like a good option to back.

Josh King 1+ shots on target (Watford vs Chelsea)

The Blues look great defensively but on the road they are a bit more vulnerable. They’ve conceded over 10 shots per trip in the Premier League, so back in-form Josh King to trouble them in this one. King has had five shots on target across his last two games and he’s he’s averaging over two per 90 minutes this season.

Mo Salah to make an assist (Everton vs Liverpool)

Mohamed Salah has either scored or assisted a goal in each of his last six away games in the Premier League and he is good value to tee up another against Everton. The Toffees are in terrible form and Liverpool look fantastic, while Salah has made an assist in six of his last 10 appearances in all competitions.
