Simeone’s side are struggling at the moment

Atletico Madrid are in danger of falling out of the top four if things go badly for them at Almeria’s Power Horse Stadium on Saturday.

Atleti’s dismal record in Almeria means what used to be called Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos is probably one of the last places Diego Simeone would want to take his out-of-form side right now.

The Colchoneros lost 1-0 to Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in midweek – their third defeat in five in all competitions. Having lost 1-0 to lowly Sevilla on their last La Liga road trip, they will be desperate to avoid another fruitless trip south.

Almeria can keep it clean at home

Aside from a rare five-goal hammering of Las Palmas last weekend, Atleti have not been scoring enough goals lately. That pattern could continue against an Almeria side that has kept four clean sheets in their last five at home, albeit all of those games finished as draws.

Chances could therefore be few and far between on Saturday and it may be wise to keep the hosts onside in any match bets. They held fifth-placed Athletic Bilbao to a draw only a few weeks ago and Simeone’s side are likely to be a touch jaded from their midweek trip to Milan.

A 0-0 draw is probably the best Alneria can manage against them, however, having failed to score a home goal since early November.
