Aston Villa vs Leeds Predictions
- Villa have just one clean sheet in their last eight games.
- Leeds have just one clean sheet in their last 12.
- Both teams have scored in six of Villa’s last seven fixtures.
Villa and Leeds both seeking responses
There is one Premier League game on Friday night as Aston Villa entertain Leeds United and both teams are looking to bounce back after disappointing cup displays.
A strong Villa side suffered a shock third round exit at the hands of League Two promotion chasers Stevenage, while Leeds fought back from 2-0 down to force a replay with Championship outfit Cardiff.
Villa claimed an eye-catching win over Tottenham at the start of the month but have failed to deliver since, drawing with Wolves before their cup exit. Leeds are still seeking a first post-World Cup victory and their wait may stretch beyond this trip to the Midlands.
Goals at both ends looks likely
Leeds have gone six games without a win but they have drawn the last three of those, and their one defeat since the World Cup break came at the hands of champions Manchester City.
Jesse Marsch’s men have shown a bit of resilience of late and with Villa struggling for form this game is hard to call in terms of a result, but both teams to score does look a good starting point for our main bet.
Both teams have scored in six of Villa’s last seven games and they have just one clean sheet in their last eight. There have been goals at both ends in seven of Leeds’ last nine across all competitions, and they have only managed one shut-out in their last 12.
With both of these teams capable of scoring and vulnerable at the back, both teams to score looks a strong option here.
Spoils could be shared at Villa Park
Leeds have just four wins in 17 attempts in the league and the hosts have only won six of their 18 games. Both of these sides appear a little low on confidence and Villa tend to fare better against the stronger teams – with their last four wins coming against sides above them in the table.
These two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in October, so another stalemate appeals but this time we may see more goals and an entertaining 2-2 draw stands out.
Both of these teams are in good scoring form and both have scored nine goals across their last five league games, an average of just under two goals per-game, which is why a high-scoring draw looks a good value pick for our correct score selection.
Leeds forward Rodrigo has 10 goals in 16 league games and deserves a mention as a possible scorer, having managed a goal in each of his last two appearances.
