We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Draw 1-1 @ 15/2

Reason For Aston Villa vs Leeds Predictions

  • Six of Aston Villa’s last eight Premier League games have featured fewer than three goals.
  • Each of Leeds United’s last three league matches have produced fewer than three goals.
  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in seven of the last eight meetings between these sides.
  • Three of the last five meetings between Aston Villa and Leeds have ended 1-1.

Villains eye five in a row

A late Ross Barkley goal saw Aston Villa maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season on Sunday as they resigned Leicester to their second consecutive home defeat.

This leaves Villa, who finished just a point above the drop zone last season and were widely expected to be battling relegation this term, second in the Premier League standings and just a point behind early pacesetters Everton.

Newcomers Leeds exceed expectations

Leeds United haven’t exactly made a bad start to life in the top flight either. The newly promoted club have picked up seven points from a possible 15 so far, but more impressive have been their performance in what has been a very difficult start to the campaign.

They were excellent at Anfield in the opening weekend of the season and followed that with back-to-back wins against Fulham and Sheffield United. An equally impressive draw at home to Manchester City followed before a narrow loss at Wolves on Monday, so there’s plenty of reason for optimism at Elland Road right now.

Cagey affair predicted at Villa Park

While morale is high in both camps and both sets of fans will be looking forward to this one, it might not be one of the most entertaining fixtures you’ll see this weekend.

Leeds United’s last three Premier League outings have featured just four goals in total, with each of them producing fewer than three goals. Similarly, six of Villa’s last eight league matches have featured fewer than three goals, and with seven of the last eight meetings between these clubs also being low scoring affairs we like the look of the unders in this game.

On the balance of things these sides seem very well matched. Three of the last five meetings between the pair have ended in 1-1 stalemates, and given how impressive both teams have been this season another 1-1 draw is our choice for the correct score prediction.

Aston Villa injuries and team news

Dean Smith’s injury list remains unchanged, with Tom Heaton and Wesley both sidelined and fringe players Kortney Hause and Keinan Davis doubtful for the hosts.

Ollie Watkins is likely to lead the line again ahead of a trio of Jack Grealish, Ross Barkley and Trezeguet.

Leeds United injuries and team news

Key midfielder and England international Kalvin Phillips was injured against Wolves on Monday and is ruled out for this one, joining Liam Cooper, Adam Forshaw, Diego Llorente and Gaetano Berardi on the sidelines.

Veteran attacker Pablo Hernandez could come into the starting lineup to allow Mateusz Klich to deputise for the injured Phillips.
