Atleti look set to motor on

Atletico Madrid’s form since the turn of the year has been simply staggering, and a run of five successive victories now has them hot on the heals of cross-city rivals Real in the race for second place.

Diego Simeone’s side have been particularly brilliant at home, where they have won half a dozen of their last eight outings, with five of those successes accompanied by a clean sheet.

Indeed, only Barcelona have conceded fewer than their total of 20 league goals, of which just 11 have come at the Wanda, while they are now looking to extend a run of 12 outings without defeat.

Almeria look up against it

The same cannot be said for visitors Almeria, who remain the only team left in the Spanish top flight yet to win on their travels this season, thanks to nine defeats and four draws from 13 outings.

It has been a tough first campaign back in La Liga for Rubi’s side, who go into match day 29 just three points above the relegation zone.

And that away form has been their sticking point throughout the campaign, particularly as they have lost without scoring on five occasions.

I predict that Atletico Madrid will win this game to nil, with 2-0 my correct score prediction.
