Blackpool vs Fleetwood Town Predictions
Seasiders tough to better at home
Blackpool are enjoying a pleasing campaign all round, but their home efforts have been particularly encouraging. The Seasiders come into this match with the seventh-best home record in the division, while they’ve really taken things up a notch of late, winning each of their last two, scoring six goals in the process.
Defensively, Simon Grayson’s men haven’t exactly flourished, even at home, but they’ve got an excellent habit of either matching or bettering their opponents in the final third. Despite conceding 12 goals in nine home games, which is not exactly a total to be proud of, Blackpool have lost only twice at Bloomfield Road.
Fleetwood on the up
November was a very good month for Joey Barton’s men, who won five out of six in all competitions. Unfortunately, because of a busy cup schedule, the Cod Army only won one league game last month, while they lost their only travelling league game. That said, they have won their last five (in all competitions) on the bounce, so confidence should be high ahead of Saturday’s game.
On the road, Fleetwood’s efforts have been so-so. They’ve won two, drawn one and lost four, scoring 13 and conceding 13 in the process. They’ve certainly made an impact going forward, but they’ve struggled to be as defensively solid as they’ve often been at Highbury Stadium. Just one clean sheet is all Barton’s side have mustered away from home this term. If they’re to seriously challenge for the top six, they may need to improve in that department.
Goals, goals, goals
Blackpool’s recent home games and Fleetwood’s away games this term have something in common: a lot of goals have gone in. Keeping this in mind, ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ looks an option at the prices. Three or more goals have been notched in six of Fleetwood’s seven travelling games, while 13 goals have been scored in Blackpool’s last three at home. Furthermore, if we combine Blackpool’s average goals for at home with Fleetwood’s average for on the road, we arrive at an average of 3.3 per game.
Those looking for a ‘Correct Score’ angle should look in the direction of a 2-2 draw. Blackpool have notched multiple goals in each of their last three at home, while Fleetwood have done so in four out seven on the road this term. The pair have also conceded multiple goals in two of their last three respective home and away matches in League 1.
