Blackpool 1-0

Reason for tip

Blackpool have not conceded in any of their last three league fixtures at Bloomfield Road while QPR’s failure to score in five of their last ten away league games makes a 1-0 home win an interesting play here.

Reaction to Saturday loss can spur on Seasiders

Blackpool can return to winning ways when they host an injury-hit Queens Park Rangers side in the Championship on Tuesday night.

Mick McCarthy described his team’s display in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Bristol City as their worst in his ten games in charge and you can bet the words he used to get his message across to the Blackpool players were a good deal stronger. The Seasiders will have to be better this week when they face a QPR side that are in a precarious position, albeit still with a te point cushion to the bottom three.

Gareth Ainsworth’s men picked up a much-needed win at home to Watford on Saturday and will hope that has established some positive momentum of their own. The win was achieved with a dogged display and in a new formation, forced upon them because of injuries to their first-choice full-backs.

Rangers on a ropey away run

Rangers’ away record is pretty poor, however, with no win in six and only three points taken from that sequence. They lost 3-1 to struggling Rotherham on their last road trip and could get no more than a 1-1 draw from a recent trip to second-bottom Huddersfield.

Blackpool, who look set to be without injured striker Gary Madine, can grind out a win in this game on the back of some improved defensive displays under McCarthy. They have not conceded in any of their last three home league fixtures and may produce another here.

But a home win, regardless of whether it is accompanied by a clean sheet, looks good enough to take at the price of around 6/4 with a correct score play of a 1-0 Blackpool win also attractive due to the hosts’ recent record and QPR’s failure to score in five of their last ten away league games.
