Fiorentina 2-1

Reason for tip

Fiorentina, who beat Bologna 2-1 at home earlier this saeson, produced their best attacking football of the season in Sunday’s 5-1 win over Frosinone. They could surprise the hosts, who have a great home record and should score themselves on Wednesday.

Bologna vs Fiorentina Predictions

  • Both team have scored in four of Bologna’s last five Serie A games
  • Both teams have scored in three of Fiorentina’s last four Serie A contests
  • Fiorentina produced their best attacking football of the season in Sunday’s 5-1 win over Frosinone

Big wins suggest both teams are firing on all cylinders

Fresh from big wins at the weekend, Bologna and Fiorentina cross swords for the third time this season on Wednesday at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

On Sunday, Bologna blasted four goals past Lecce without reply to remain in the hunt for a top-four finish while Fiorentina fired five past Frosinone to stay in seventh place. It’s hard to say which performance was better, but the size of La Viola’s victory was more surprising given Vincenzo Italiano’s side had not scored more than twice in any of their last 12 games.

The recent loan addition of Andrea Belotti makes Fiorentina look a lot more potent and, with him dovetailing well alongside Lucas Beltran, there should be more of a cutting edge about the visitors than they showed in January’s Coppa Italia game against Bologna.

Belotti arrival looks like being a no repeat guarantee of Coppa clash

Italiano’s side were lucky to progress on the night after Bologna struck the woodwork twice in normal time while Fiorentina’s first shot on target arrived in stoppage time. But the evidence from both of Sunday’s games featuring these sides suggests there will not be a repeat of that 0-0 draw.

Bologna’s home form is excellent and rightfully makes them favourites to take all three points, but Fiorentina are much more dangerous than their recent away record indicates.

Both teams to score looks like a better bet at around evens with four of the Rossoblu’s last five Serie A games and three of La Viola’s last four all featuring goals at both ends.
