Lens set for straightforward task
Lens have a chance to apply more pressure on Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 when they travel to Brest for Friday’s clash at Stade Francis-Le Blé. Pierre Sage’s side are in good form and come into this on the back of a French cup semi-final win over Toulouse in midweek.
Sang et Or set about their task with usual verve, securing a 2-0 lead by the 20-minute mark before rounding off a 4-1 win in the 74th minute. That comfortable margin allowed Sage to substitute key players like Florian Thauvin and Saud Abdelhamid.
They should be ready for this straightforward task against a Brest outfit that have fallen away in the last few weeks. The Pirates were looking good for a top-half finish until a run of three defeats and a draw in their last four dropped them down to 12th.
Take Thauvin to score
Eric Roy’s side have failed to score in two of those last four games and have been giving off an air of a team who are ‘a la plage’. Lens have won each of the last four meetings of the sides and should be backed to take the three points here – even at the odds-on quote.
Sage’s men have won five of their six away Ligue 1 matches against clubs currently in the bottom half and should have too much quality for their slumping hosts.
Back Lens penalty king Thauvin to get on the scoresheet against a side that conceded two spot-kicks in their most recent home game – a 4-3 reverse to Rennes
