Brest vs Lens Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in six of the last eight meetings between these two clubs
  • Both teams have scored in 12 of Brest’s 13 Ligue 1 matches this season.
  • Lens have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 away games.

Nothing to split these old rivals

These two sides might be 12 points and 15 places apart but I don’t see too much difference between these old Ligue 2 foes, especially with Brest hosting. Lens are flying high and signed off before the international break with a 4-0 win at home to Troyes to go second in the table. Meanwhile, Brest extended their unbeaten run to four matches and made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 win at Lorient to move outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Despite being so close to the bottom three, Brest have impressed lately and are one of only five teams in Europe’s top-five leagues to have scored in each of their league fixtures this season. They have lost just one of their last four home matches and produced a stunning 2-0 victory over Monaco in their latest match at Stade Francis-Le Ble.

For all Lens’ incredible start they have lost each of their last two away games and have conceded in five of their six games on the road this term, adding further weight to our prediction for both teams to score on Sunday. Since January 2014 these sides have met 12 times, the last two head-to-heads coming in Ligue 1. The teams have won five meetings each, drawing twice including in the most recent fixture back in April 1-1. Lens have failed to win on any of their last three trips to this ground and could be frustrated again.

We’re confident that both teams will score on Sunday and we have predicted a 1-1 draw. The visitors are flying high but are struggling on the road of late so we’re backing Brest to keep it an even contest.
