Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in each of Burnley’s last four home Premier league games, with just three goals being scored in this period.
  • Tottenham have seen fewer than three goals in six of their last 11 matches.
  • Burnley have failed to score in three of their last four home league games.

Clarets fans offered glimmer of hope

A stunning 3-0 win away to Brighton on Saturday provided Clarets fans with a glimmer of hope in the relegation battle but they could be set to fall back into losing ways when they host Tottenham on Wednesday.

That victory at the Amex ended Burnley’s 12-game winless run and they remain in the relegation zone, now five points adrift of Newcastle but with at least two games in hand on the three teams directly around them.

Spurs hope to maintain top four challenge

Tottenham enjoyed their own unexpected and morale-boosting success at the weekend as a Harry Kane brace earned them a last-ditch win at the Etihad in one of the games of the season.

However, they have won only four of their last eight outings in all competitions and are separated from the top four by seven points. The improvement under Antonio Conte will be welcomed, but it’s arguable whether this group of players can make a true push for the top four.

Cagey affair expected at Turf Moor

Burnley may have put three past Brighton at the weekend but their scoring record remains woefully short. They have scored just 20 goals this season and four of their last five league games have produced fewer than three goals.

They did limit the free-scoring Liverpool to a single goal in their last home match and a similarly defensive performance is expected here. Spurs have seen fewer than three goals in six of their last 11 in all competitions, so I’m backing Under 2.5 goals alongside a second consecutive 1-0 defeat at home for Burnley.

Burnley predicted lineup: Pope; Roberts, Collins, Mee, Pieters; Lennon, Cork, Brownhill, McNeil; Cornet, Weghorst

Tottenham predicted lineup: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Doherty, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Sessegnon; Moura, Son, Kane

  • Nine of Tottenham’s 12 Premier League wins this season were by a single goal
  • Tottenham have recorded five victories in the last seven Premier League head-to-heads
