Cameroon vs Ethiopia Predictions

• Seven of Cameroon’s last eight wins overall have seen them lead at half-time.

Easier test for tournament hosts

The hosts were somewhat fortunate to come out of their last match with a victory and they looked less than convincing against Burkino Faso. However, two quickfire penalties from Vincent Aboubakar helped them to record a fifth straight victory and also open their Group A fixtures with three points. This match looks as though it might be a little easier considering Ethiopia are 77 places below the Burkinese in the FIFA rankings.

Ethiopia haven’t emerged victorious in an AFCON fixture for 46 years and the wait never looked like ending in their opening match against Cape Verde, failing to register a single shot on target in the entire second half. That result also means they’ve lost their last three AFCON proper matches to nil. It would take a monumental effort for them to score, let alone cause an upset and given that have been losing at halftime in all of their previous five fixtures, it seems likely they’ll lose once again here.

One way traffic likely

We just don’t see how the Ethiopians are going to cause danger here and expect the Cameroonians to dominate from the first minute. We think the hosts will be winning at both half time and full time. It may not be a rout and so a 2-0 win looks possible.
