      Cardiff vs Wolverhampton Predictions

Cardiff came into this Premier League season as firm favourites for an instant return to the Championship, and as we enter gameweek 14 in the 2018/19 campaign not much has changed in that regard.

They fell to a 1-0 defeat at Everton last weekend to leave them 19th in the table, ahead of Fulham on goal difference and behind Southampton on the same metric. However, with just a point separating them from safety and a win potentially taking them as high as 15th they certainly aren’t out of the running for a prolonged stint in the top flight yet.

Recent matches have given the Cardiff City Stadium faithful reason to be cautiously optimistic too. They have beaten both Brighton and Fulham at home recently, and their 1-0 defeats to Leicester and Everton in November were far from disastrous performances.

Wolves’ fans won’t be particularly fearful of relegation this season, although the last 2 months have given them cause for concern after an excellent start to life in the Premier League. They opened the season with just 1 defeat from their first 8 league games and even managed to take points off both Manchester clubs, but ever since a 2-0 loss at home to Watford the wheels have begun to shake.

The visitors fell to a new low last weekend when they lost 2-0 at home to another relegation favourite, Huddersfield. That makes it 5 games without a win for the Midlands club, and 4 of those games have ended in defeat. They still sit in a relatively comfortable 11th position, but Nuno Espirito Santo will be desperate to break this duck.

This might seem like the perfect fixture to do so, but it could be a lot tougher than it looks. Wolves have only won 2 of their 6 away games in the league this season and have scored just 4 goals in the process. Cardiff, meanwhile, have won 2 of their last 3 home games in the Premier League and have avoided defeat in 3 of their 7 total games.

To make matters worse for Wolves, they are facing a Cardiff side who have won 4 of their last 6 meetings with them. Despite all this Cardiff are priced as fairly heavy underdogs, and we think there’s a lot of value in backing a Cardiff Win or Draw Double Chance along with a 1-0 correct score predictions.
