      Eintracht Frankfurt vs Nurnberg Predictions

Eintracht Frankfurt moved up to fifth place — four points within the European qualifying spots — following Monday’s 3-0 win in Dusseldorf. Luka Jovic, the Bundesliga’s second top scorer, failed to get on the scoresheet – he’s now two behind Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski in the Golden Boot race – but we did see Frenchman Sebastian Serbian Haller make an impact with two off the bench after replacing him in the 72nd minute. Adi Hutter has moved away from an attacking trio containing the pair in the absence of the injured Ante Rebic, but that hasn’t seemed to slow them as they remain one of just two Bundesliga sides unbeaten in 2019.

Nurnberg’s last meeting with Frankfurt ended 1-1, but a lot has changed since then. Der Club are 19 matches without a win (D5 L14), and they’ve taken just two points away from home this season (D2 L10). Nurnberg were, at least, knocked out of the German cup in the third round at the start of February, so league survival is now the sole focus. However, that looks a tough ask. Even star midfielder Hanno Behrens – their top scorer in their 17/18 promotion-winning season – is yet to be the answer since his return from injury and they have just nine matches to make up a nine-point deficit.

We also have a 33/1 Anytime Goalscorer Accumulator for the Bundesliga here.

Frankfurt boast one of their best ever attacking records in the Bundesliga after 25 games and there are a few reasons why we feel Nurnberg will have a tough time stopping them. Firstly, Nurnberg have kept a clean sheet in just one of their last 19 outings, and secondly, because they’ve conceded multiple goals, including 7-0 and 6-0 defeats to sides of a similar strength to Frankfurt, in all but two of their away days this season – they are by far the worst travelling side in the Bundesliga. That’s not to say that the visitors have no chance of getting on the scoresheet, though – both teams have scored in 83% of Frankfurt’s home outings in 18/19.

How many goals we see from the hosts seems the only real question. And with Frankfurt scoring three goals in each of their last three league matches, you’d have to like their chances of getting more than one. As mentioned before, Nurnberg have struggled against stronger attacking sides, so you could say they sometimes lack “damage limitation” on their part. Frankfurt are a side that never gives up looking for goals, even when ahead – their 7-1 win over Dusseldorf earlier this season showed that much – and with that in mind, we like the odds on them to come out ahead of a high scoring affair. Our prediction: 3-1 Eintracht Frankfurt.
