Ingolstadt vs Bayern Munich Predictions

Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola need only one more win from their remaining two matches to seal themselves a record fourth consecutive Bundesliga title – just one point would be an almost mathematical certainty. If Bayern Munich win against FC Ingolstadt this Saturday then Borussia Dortmund’s result against Eintracht Frankfurt is rendered irrelevant, with five points currently between the top two sides and only three points left to play for after this game. Bayern Munich have, however, had a disappointing week so far and may not come into this in the best spirits as they failed to clinch the title at home last weekend, where they drew 1-1 against Borussia M’gladbach, and then on Tuesday were knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals on away goals, despite winning 2-1 against Athletico Madrid.

FC Ingolstadt will have aimed for nothing more than survival as one of the two newly promoted sides in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign. Last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against TSG Hoffenheim was meaningless as they had already achieved with a 2-2 draw against Hannover 96 in the weekend prior. Ingolstadt have guaranteed themselves another season in the top flight and currently stand on the magic “40 point” total with two matches remaining. Neither relegation nor European qualification remains a mathematical possibility for them.

Bayern Munich are huge favourites for this match and with a win could clinch their 26th Bundesliga title – 17 titles more than any other German team. Munich are one of the most in-form sides in the Bundesliga and are unbeated in eight matches, winning six and drawing two. All but one of Bayern Munich’s wins over the same period have been “to nil” and we expect that given FC Ingolstadt have “nothing more” to play for, they shouldn’t put up too much of a challenge for the three time back-to-back champions. Combining that analysis with the statistics below, we expect Bayern Munich to claim their fourth consecutive title in style by winning this match to nil against Ingolstadt. Bayern Munich are averaging 2 goals per game away from home over their last five so a final score of Bayern Munich 2-0 at 24/5 also seems like a solid bet for this match.
