Draw and Over 1.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Getafe have failed to win three of their last five home games, drawing the last one 3-3. Jose Bordelas’ side have drawn three of their last six games and all of them featured goals. Meanwhile, Girona have failed to win five of their last six away La Liga games, including two draws.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Only Cadiz, Real Betis and Mallorca have drawn more La Liga games than Getafe, who have had four 1-1 stalemates so far. Another one could be coming against a Girona side that have only conceded more than once in two of their away games against clubs outside the top five.

Patchy form makes it tough to pick a winner

Two clubs in patchy form meet at Estadio Coliseum on Saturday and it is anyone’s guess whether either Getafe or Girona can win.

Getafe were going well at home until an upset loss to Rayo Vallecano in January, which was quickly followed by another reverse at the Coliseum to Real Madrid. Jose Bordelas’ side got back on track by beating relegation-haunted Celta Vigo in a five-goal thriller but then could not hold onto leads of 2-0 and 3-1 against Las Palmas a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, Girona’s title til has come off the rails thanks to their away form, which has recently included defeats at Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca. The Bilbao loss was a tough one, but Michel’s men failed to create much danger at all in the 1-0 reverse at Son Moix.

Draw could be on the cards

The inconsistent nature of the hosts makes this a really hard game to call, but a draw does appeal for a couple of reasons. Three of Getafe’s last six La Liga matches have ended all square and another, the 3-2 win over Celta, was heading that way until their 89th-minute winner.

Girona, meanwhile, have streaky away form that involves runs of wins or defeats punctuated by the occasional draw. But they have only once followed up an away win with a defeat or vice versa, which suggests this result will not be a victory for them.

They look likely to be without Ukrainian schemer Viktor Tsygankov again through injury, but Manchester City-bound Savio is in super form and could help them claim a draw in a game with goals.
