Huddersfield vs Peterborough Predictions
- Huddersfield have won five of their last seven in all competitions with five clean sheets across those games.
- Peterborough have lost six of their last seven in all competitions and failed to score in six of those.
- Huddersfield have scored at least once in nine of their last ten Championship home games.
Posh have lost their scoring touch
Peterborough will need to show more of the pride and defensive organisation that they put on display against Manchester City on Tuesday if they are to avoid a fourth straight Championship defeat on Friday. Hosts Huddersfield are the form side of the division right now with not even table-toppers Fulham having taken more points than the Terriers in their last 12 games.
Carlos Corberan’s side extended their unbeaten run to 17 in all competitions by surviving a late Birmingham City rally to win 2-0 at St Andrew’s last weekend. Town were grateful to see two Blues’ efforts hit the woodwork in order to preserve their fifth clean sheet in seven, but are unlikely to be given as much trouble by a Peterborough side that seem to have lost their scoring touch.
New boss Grant McCann was unable to stop Posh’s slide to the bottom of the table when his new team lost 3-0 at home to the club that sacked him earlier this year – Hull City. It was a dreadfully disjointed performance from Peterborough, offering little evidence of McCann being able to breathe life into their fading survival bid.
Efficient Huddersfield to keep on winning
The midweek FA Cup fifth-round defeat to the Premier League leaders was much better with Posh looking well organised at the back and even having a couple of chances to go 1-0 up before the inevitable happened. They cannot afford to miss such opportunities against a Terriers side that have been ruthlessly efficient in taking their own chances.
That’s what is separating Huddersfield from some of the other promotion contenders at the moment and it’s a factor behind our firm belief they will win on Friday. The short odds are to be expected when two sides with such divergent form collide – even in the chaotic Championship – but this looks like a game where we can risk a bet on a Huddersfield win to nil.
Peterborough have lost six of their last seven in all competitions and failed to score in six of those while nine of their last 13 away Championship games have been defeats without a goal of their own. Coupled with the Terriers’ knack of scoring at least once, we are forecasting a 1-0 home win in west Yorkshire.
