      Lens To Win To Nil

      Reason for tip

Auxerre only narrowly avoided relegation last season and they start the new campaign without last season’s top scorer Lassine Sinayoko. Lens are set for a comfortable success.

      Lens 2-0

      Reason for tip

Lens allowed only 13 goals in 17 home league matches last term, while Auxerre could win just twice on their travels. The Blood and Gold look set for another impressive campaign and they can beat Auxerre 2-0.

      Lens vs Auxerre Predictions

      • Lens won 14 of their 17 home league matches last season
      • Lens conceded only 13 goals in their 17 home matches
      • Auxerre won only two of 17 away league games last term

      Lens set for opening glory

Lens pushed PSG in the Ligue 1 title race last season and the Blood and Gold finished only six points adrift of the European champions.

Lille were nine points away from Lens in third and Dino Toppmoller’s men beat PSG to win the French Champions Trophy last weekend.

Mamadou Sangare’s big-money move to Brentford is a blow to Lens’ chances of challenging again this season, but there have been a number of arrivals and the departure of one player won’t impact the confidence and belief of an impressive side.

The Blood and Gold won 14 of their 17 home Ligue 1 matches last term, they conceded only 13 goals and won the French Cup.

Those efforts are a mile away from what Auxerre could achieve last season. Les Ajaistes only narrowly avoided relegation and they won only two of 17 away league matches.

Auxerre have turned to Will Still in a bid to improve their fortunes, but the 33-year-old struggled in his most recent management role at Southampton.

Lassine Sinayoko, who scored 12 league goals and finished the campaign as Auxerre’s top goalscorer has made the move to Paris FC and it could be another campaign of struggles for Auxerre.
