      Maastricht vs FC Dordrecht Predictions

MVV sit 11th in the Eerste Divisie standings after an inconsistent start to the campaign which has seen them register seven points from five games. Ron Elsen’s side will be targeting the Play-offs again this term, but they have to start stringing wins together soon to keep in the hunt. They have a good opportunity this Friday to kick start their season and move into the top half when second bottom Dordrecht visit De Geusselt.

MVV have won their last four Eerste Divisie encounters against Schappenkoppen, and anything less than three points on match day six would be a significant setback for Ron Elsen’s team.

They possessed one of the best home records in the league last term with ten wins and five draws gained from 19 outings, but they’ve been turned over twice already at Geusselt this season by TOP Oss (0-2) and Go Ahead Eagles (1-2) and need to regain some confidence at home.

Fortunately for MVV, opponents Dordrecht come into this week’s encounter winless in five, and Gerard De Nooijer’s men have been bested in both of their games on the road so far against NEC (1-0) and Jong Ajax (5-2).

With just a solitary point picked up on the opening night away to fellow strugglers Helmond Sport, Dordrecht have lost four on the bounce now after last weekend’s tame 0-2 defeat at home to FC Twente.

Schappenkoppen were surprise Play-off qualifiers n 2017/18 after topping the Period 3 table, but they’ve taken a huge step backwards this season when many expected them to move on to better things.

With 12 defeats on the road last season, Dordrecht have now lost 14 of their last 21 Eerste Divisie fixtures away from home, and this alongside their overall poor start to the season makes them untouchable here for punters.

Enthusiasm for MVV is tempered slightly by their in and out form and back to back home losses, but they’ll be encouraged by their recent 2-2 away draw at Almere City and 0-1 triumph at FC Eindhoven on match day five. They’ll be driven to put things right at De Geusselt this week and strengthen their head to head dominance over Gerard de Nooijer’s side.

Three of MVV’s last four wins against Dordrecht have been by a single goal, so we’re playing with a straight bat by backing the hosts in the match result market, alongside a 1-0 correct score prediction.
