Manchester United vs Zorya Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Manchester United bounced back from their trio of defeats emphatically. They had lost against Manchester City, Feyenoord, and Watford to hand Jose Mourinho three consecutive defeats for the first time since his Porto days.

However, there was little threat of making it four in a row when they beat Northampton Town 3-1 in the League Cup, and despite a fairly dodgy opening spell against Premier League champions Leicester, they eventually ran out 4-1 winners, with all of their goals coming in the first half. This included another for the excellent Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba’s first goal in a Manchester United shirt.

This will have well and truly boosted the confidence of all the Manchester United squad, not least Pogba who has come in for some criticism since his world record transfer in the summer. They have now won six and lost three of their nine competitive games this season and find themselves 6th in the Premier League and bottom of their Europa League group after their defeat in the Netherlands.

Zorya managed a very respectable 1-1 draw at home to Fenerbahce in their first ever Europa League group game. This is the 3rd time the Ukrainians have entered the competition, but both of their previous campaigns ended at the Playoff round. They were able to bypass that round this season thanks to Dnipro’s exclusion from the competition.

Overall the visitors have had a fairly decent start to the season. They have won six, drawn three, and lost one of their ten competitive matches so far, putting them second only to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Zorya have managed to score in all but one of these matches, and although they are facing a much higher quality opponent, the Manchester United defence certainly haven’t been at their best this season. They have kept just two clean sheets in their nine outings in all competitions, and considering they are likely to field a somewhat weakened side I think Zorya should be able to find the back of the net.
