Hosts staring down the barrel

Metz look down and out as their three-year stint in the French top-flight appears to be coming to an end. They sit bottom of the Ligue 1 table and have failed to win any of their last 14 matches. The hosts haven’t been able to rely on home comforts this season as they possess the worst home record in the division have just won once at the Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien all season. It would take something remarkable for them to earn anything out of this match against Europe chasing Lyon.

The visitors currently sit five points adrift of the European spots which means they must go all out for victory here to stand even a remote chance of breaking into the top six. They have just three matches left to play and first up, they travel to Metz in what on paper looks to be a routine victory. However, it’s been their away form that has let them down this season as they have failed to win back-to-back road matches all season. But they must do so by winning here and they’ll feel confident they can do just that.

Lyon to emerge victorious

Backing Lyon to win away has been risky this season, but they should get the job done here. However, they’ve looked shaky at the back for most of the campaign and Metz can cause them a scare here by getting on the scoresheet, even if Lyon ends up winning the match.
