Napoli To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Napoli have won 18 of their last 20 games, while Cremonese have lost four on the spin. The visitors have also failed to net in six of their last eight matches, while Luciano Spalletti’s hosts have the second-best defensive record in Serie A this season.

Napoli 4-0

Reason for tip

Cremonese are the only winless team in Serie A and sacked their head coach over the weekend. They were thrashed 4-1 by Napoli earlier this season and a home side which hammered Juventus 5-1 on Friday should be comfortable once again.

Napoli vs Cremonese Predictions

  • Cremonese have lost four consecutive games, while Napoli have won 18 of their last 20.
  • The visitors have failed to score in six of their last eight games, failing to record a win in that run.
  • Only Juventus (12) have conceded fewer Serie A goals than Napoli’s 14 this campaign.

Napoli flying after historic win

Napoli’s incredible 5-1 thrashing of Juventus was undoubtedly the result of the season in Italy thus far, and it may not have been bettered across the entire continent this campaign. Luciano Spalletti’s men are nine points clear at the Serie A summit following their remarkable attacking display, and they will be confident of more of the same when they switch focus to the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, hosting Serie A’s only winless team – managerless Cremonese.

While Spalletti may look to rest some of his star attackers following a busy period since the World Cup, it’s unlikely the hosts will be troubled. As well as boasting Serie A’s best attacking record with 44 goals this term, Napoli have conceded just 14 times in the top flight – fewer than all but Juventus (12). Meanwhile, only Roma (12.2 xGA) have allowed opponents fewer expected goals than Napoli (16.7) and no Italian top-flight team has faced fewer shots on target.

Cremonese, meanwhile, are in crisis, sacking coach Massimiliano Alvini after Saturday’s 3-2 loss against Monza. That game represented something of an anomaly for a team which has failed to net in six of their last eight outings, scoring just 13 times in 18 league games since their promotion. Having succumbed to a 4-1 loss against Napoli earlier this season, the visitors will not expect much better here – and they may even make changes as they focus on their battle to avoid the drop.

Partenopei set to cruise

Given Napoli’s outstanding run of form and near-perfect record on home soil this season – they have won eight and drawn one at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Serie A, backing the hosts to make serene progress to the last eight is a no-brainer.

With Cremonese lacking any kind of consistent threat, Napoli to win to nil is our main selection, and 4-0 to the in-form hosts could represent a solid correct score prediction for what should be a one-sided affair.
