• They have scored only five goals during that miserable run, blanking in five matches
• Le Mans have lost only one of their last 13 games

Struggling hosts heading for more misery

Nice fell 12 places from fourth in 2024-25 to 16th last season and only avoided dropping to Ligue 2 by beating St Etienne in the promotion/relegation playoff. 

Their fans will hope that poor campaign was just a blip but the early stages of the new season suggest they are set for further struggles. 

A 0-0 home draw with Lorient got the season off to a low-key start and things only got worse from there as they were routed 3-0 at Paris FC in their last outing. 

Nice will hope a visit from promoted Le Mans provides the springboard for success. However, the plucky visitors have shown enough to suggest they may outrun their odds at the Allianz Riviera.

Le Mans opened the season with a decent 2-2 draw with Brest and they very nearly earned an even more impressive point at Rennes last time, only being denied a stalemate by a 96th-minute penalty. 

Patrick Videira’s side have shown a knack for punching above their weight and that could see them hold their own against Nice, who have gone ten Ligue 1 games without a win and are without a number of key men, including Moise Bombito and Mohamed Amoura.
