Nottingham Forest vs Coventry Predictions

• Nottingham Forest have lost only two of their last ten home games
• Coventry have lost their first four Premier League matches to nil
• Both teams have scored in only three of Coventry’s last ten away matches

Coventry’s troubles look set to continue

Coventry cruised to the Championship title last season but they have found life in the Premier League much tougher and have become only the fifth side in English top-flight history to lose their opening four matches of the season without scoring.

While promoted Hull and Ipswich have both had moments to celebrate in the early weeks of the season, Coventry have shown very little and are desperate to gain a much-needed boost before the international break.

Defeats away at Arsenal and Manchester City can be excused but they have also lost 1-0 at home to Hull while the manner of last Sunday’s 5-0 hiding against Brighton told a worrying tale.

Frank Lampard still has plenty to prove as a Premier League manager, especially after his struggles at Everton, and Coventry’s pointless start to the season has only intensified the beliefs that he is not up to operating at this level.

Coventry are not being helped by dealing with an injury to last season’s top scorer Haji Wright while having Taiwo Awoniyi suspended against his former club further diminishes Lampard’s attacking options.

Forest finding form for Glasner

A 3-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa in the EFL Cup on Wednesday has made matters worse for the Sky Blues and it is hard to see their fortunes changing at Nottingham Forest, who are slowly but surely acclimatising to the methods of manager Oliver Glasner.

Forest have the advantage of having a midweek off and they were fully deserving of last weekend’s 2-1 success at Aston Villa, where they won the shot count 22 to seven.

That came on the back of respectable draws away to Liverpool at Anfield and at home to Tottenham, who failed to register a shot on target at the City Ground.

The problem facing Coventry is that Forest are giving away very few goalscoring opportunities and that means one goal may be enough for the hosts to land the spoils.

Ten of Forest’s last 11 home games have gone under 2.5 goals, so it is unlikely to be a classic, but the presence of Morgan Gibbs-White, Liam Delap and Igor Jesus give Glasner’s men the upperhand.

Two of Coventry’s four league defeats, against Manchester City and Hull, ended 1-0 and Forest may have to settle for a slender margin of victory as they bid to expand their unbeaten run to four.
