Leicester City to Win

Reason for tip

Leicester look to be finding their groove after claiming back-to-back wins over Charlton and Birmingham. The Foxes can make it three in a row against an Oxford side who have just one point to show from four games so far.

Leicester City 2-1

Reason for tip

A Leicester win is expected but they may have to settle for a one-goal margin of victory. Oxford scored twice to claim their first point against a strong Coventry team last time out and the Foxes’ backline have been conceding chances, so a 2-1 away win is the pick.

Oxford United vs Leicester City Predictions

  • Leicester have nine points from four Championship games.
  • Oxford remain winless in the league (D1, L3).
  • Oxford have lost three of their last five home Championship games stretching into last season.

Struggling Oxford face Foxes test

Leicester City head to Oxford United in one of three early Championship fixtures on Saturday and the visitors are the clear favourites to claim maximum points.

The Foxes endured a mixed start to the season with just one win in their first three games across all competitions but appear to be hitting their stride. Leicester have picked up back-to-back wins at Charlton and against promotion rivals Birmingham, and the standout bet here is backing them to make it three wins on the spin at the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford have just one point to show from their four games so far and the early signs suggest they could well fall victims of second season syndrome, having avoided the drop as a promoted outfit last term. The U’s have also been on the wrong end of a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Brighton in an EFL Cup game, and they should find relegated Leicester too much to cope with.

Oxford did at least manage to get off the mark in the last round of fixtures as they held Coventry to a 2-2 draw and they can at least get on the scoresheet on Saturday. Leicester have managed back-to-back clean sheets but they have benefitted from some good fortune, as both Charlton and Birmingham recorded a higher xG than the Foxes in their last two games.

Leicester are yet to score more than twice in any game this season and as such a 2-1 away victory is the correct score prediction.
