Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in three of Monaco’s last five matches and in four of Paphos’ last six games. Monaco arrive in iffy form after two heavy Ligue 1 defeats on the bounce in which they shipped eight goals. That should encourage the Cypriot side, who have scored in all five of their European home games this season.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Paphos have scored exactly once in their two home Champions League league phase games this term and will be looking to nab another 1-0 win against Monaco, but the Ligue 1 side are seasoned campaigners at this level and can take home a point with a 1-1 draw.  Monaco have scored in six of their last eight European away games.

Paphos vs Monaco Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in three of Monaco’s last five matches
  • Both teams have scored in four of Paphos’ last six games
  • The Cypriot side have scored in all five of their European home games this season

Paphos have proven themselves at this level

After a forgettable start to life in the Champions League, Paphos achieved lift-off with their win over Villarreal on matchday four and could cause Monaco a few problems on Wednesday too.

The Principality club arrive on the back of two Ligue 1 hammerings against Lens and Rennes and will need to pick themselves up of the floor or potentially suffer a similar fate to the Yellow Submarines earlier this month.

Villarreal were heavily fancied for the win, as are Monaco, but Paphos proved that they can find a way to stay relevant at this level with some solid defending and game management after breaking the deadlock from a set-piece.

Monaco may not have enough for the win

The Cypriot champions have scored in each of their last eight home appearances and in all five European games played at their home for this competition – Alphamega Stadium.

Monaco are handily positioned for the knockout stages after taking all three points away to Bodo/Glimt last time out. Sebastian Pocognoli’s side have also held Premier League duo Tottenham and Manchester City to draws at Stade Louis II.

The visitors will feel they can find the net against a side who shipped five at home to Bayern Munich, but one goal could be their limit based on current form and it may not be enough for them to claim three points.
