Portland and LA Galaxy will both be desperate to claim maximum points after mediocre starts to the season and home advantage looks key for the Timbers.

The hosts have lost their last three MLS games, which includes a 5-1 hiding at Atlanta last time out, but they are a reliable proposition on their own patch and Galaxy aren’t faring much better.

The LA-based visitors have failed to win any of their opening three fixtures, netting just twice, with their two away games featuring a 3-1 loss at Dallas and a goalless draw at Sporting Kansas City.

Portland, whose only high point this season came in a 1-0 victory at home to Sporting Kansas City, have lost only three of their last 15 league games across this season and last at Providence Park.

That makes Giovanni Savarese’s side a good bet to come out on top and those opting for a correct score should plummet for 1-0, as this looks like being low-scoring.

Each of Portland’s last six home league wins have been recorded by a single goal, the last two of which ended 1-0.
