Plymouth Argyle Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

For a side rooted to the bottom of the Championship, Plymouth have enjoyed an excellent April, beating Norwich, Sheffield United and Coventry to take nine points from five games and still be in with a chance of staying up. They can boost their survival hopes further at Preston, who have won one of their last 11 games and lost each of the last three.

      Plymouth Argyle 2-1

      Reason for tip

These sides played out a 3-3 thriller in the reverse fixture and goals could be on the cards again, with both teams scoring in nine of their last ten combined matches. It could pay to side with Plymouth this time, though, given their superior form, and a 2-1 Plymouth win would mark a fourth straight defeat by that scoreline for Preston.

      Preston vs Plymouth Argyle Predictions

      • Preston have won just one of their last 11 matches, losing each of the last three
      • Plymouth have given themselves a chance of surviving the drop by winning three of their last five games
      • Both teams scored in nine of this pair’s last ten combined fixtures

Plymouth primed to increase pressure on Preston

Given they have been in the Championship bottom three at the end of every matchday since November 30, many will have expected Plymouth to have been relegated well before the penultimate game of the season.

However, Argyle, against all odds, are still in with a chance of remaining a Championship side. The Pilgrims’ five games in April have yielded nine points and there is every chance they can give their survival hopes an extra boost by earning a positive result at Deepdale on Saturday.

Their hosts are woefully out of form and Miron Muslic’s side can take full advantage of any nerves from Preston, who have been dragged into a chaotic relegation dogfight after a dodgy Easter weekend.

      Pilgrims can trouble luckless Lilywhites

North End were seven points clear of the drop zone before Friday’s clash with QPR but, having lost that fixture and Monday’s trip to Hull while sides around them picked up positive results, they now find themselves just three points above the drop.

It would be no surprise to see a nervy performance from Paul Heckingbottom’s side with that in the back of their minds. The pressure could get to the Lilywhites and a lack of options could see them falter, with six players ruled out and further three needing to be assessed.

Plymouth’s last two wins have come against third-placed Sheffield United and in-form Coventry, suggesting the battling Pilgrims should have more than enough about them to earn at least a point at Deepdale.
