Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Predictions

Barcelona have taken control of the Primera Division title chase after racking a series of wins while the Madrid clubs both dropped points last weekend. Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw at Malaga while Atleti were held to a goalless draw against Villarreal.

Diego Simeone’s side were also involved in a 0-0 draw in Eindhoven in the Champions League in midweek although this is likely to be an entirely more open game against opponents who are sure to attack them rather than sit back and look to keep things tight.

Real Madrid have had the week off to prepare for it and are unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions. They’ve won all 8 home games since losing 4-0 to Barcelona in November, scoring a staggering 45 goals but they’ve not faced anyone of the class of the side from the other half of Madrid.

      Reason for Betting Tips

This really is a must-win game for both teams with Barcelona already holding a commanding 8 point lead at the top. If there is no winner in this match then they can pretty much start celebrating another title in Catalonia so both Zidane and Simeone will have to look upon this Madrid derby as one they need to win. There is no real pressure from below so both clubs are already all but guaranteed a place in the Champions League next season and as a result we could see a slightly more open game than you sometimes get in derby matches.

This will be a big test or Zidane’s tactical mind, which has been criticised in some quarters against the managerial maestro that is Diego Simeone, who enjoys a fine record against Los Blancos. Atletico scored and had other fine chances on their recent visit to the Camp Nou despite ending it with 9 men and are likely to get some joy on the break against a Real Madrid side who will certainly come after them. Both teams have scored in 5 of Zidane’s 8 matches so far and backing both teams to score at 10/11 looks a decent shout here.
