Shot-shy duo may find goals hard to come by

Schalke remain without a Bundesliga win since January 17, with them failing to win any of their last 28 league matches spanning across this season and last.

The Miners have collected just four points from 12 matches this season – four draws – and even when they were 2-1 up at ten-man Augsburg last weekend they failed to get the job done, conceding an injury-time equaliser.

Schalke followed that up with a 2-0 defeat at home to Freiburg in midweek, where their lack of firepower was highlighted with just two shots on target.

Confidence is at an all-time low at Schalke, who have managed just eight goals in 12 league games and only three in six attempts at home.

Fortunately for them, however, they host an Arminia Bielfeld side who are equally toothless with just eight strikes in 12 games.

The newly-promoted visitors, who are only three points and two places above basement boys Schalke, have lost their last five away games and they failed to score in three of those defeats.

Given the lack of attacking quality on show and both in desperate need of a positive result, goals look like being in short supply and we predict a low-scoring affair.

Only one of Schalke’s last five home games has featured three or more goals, while Arminia have lost their last two league matches against Freiburg and Augsburg 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.
