Sheffield Wednesday vs Norwich Predictions

This is a pivotal game in the season of both these clubs. Wednesday are looking a bit jittery in 6th place now following back-to-back defeats but could land a hammer blow to the hopes of one of their main rivals for a play-off spot here. Norwich really need to win this game but their away record alone suggests they are unlikely to do that and backing the Owls to get back on track with 3 points looks like the best plan here.

Norwich really should be doing better, given there are a lot of players with Premier League experience in their ranks. There is little wrong with how they’ve been playing at home but they average just 0.94 points per game away from Carrow Road. Needless to say that is nowhere near good enough for a side with promotion ambitions. 53% of their away games have ended in defeat. Their last 11 away games in all competitions have produced 8 defeats and only 1 win and even since the turn of the year, they’ve slipped to defeats at lowly Burton and rock bottom Rotherham.

That should make Wednesday fans a bit more optimistic here. The Owls may have lost their last 2 matches but they’d won 4 on the spin prior to that. Like Norwich, they’ve been much stronger at home than away. Wednesday have won an excellent 69% of their Championship home games this season and that includes 6 of their last 8 home outings.

They’ve added a few new attacking additions, who haven’t made a massive impact so far but they can still rely on the goal-scoring prowess of Fernando Forestieri. He has scored in 7 of his last 15 appearances for the Owls, including 2 of his last 3 and remains the focal point of their attacking play so backing Forestieri to score anytime at 7/5 looks to offer value here.

Overall the hosts look much the more likely victors here and it would be a huge win for them. Backing Sheffield Wednesday to Win at 5/4 looks to offer value.
