      Shrewsbury vs Tranmere Predictions

      • Shrewsbury have won just once in their past five games, currently sitting in 17th place.
      • Tranmere are cut adrift by eight points in League One, going 11 games without a win.
      • Shrewsbury have scored just 26 times this season, including twice in their past five games.
      • Tranmere have scored 29 times this season, a rate of just 0.93 goals per game.

Will Shrewsbury be able to pick up consecutive wins?

Shrewsbury haven’t had a very productive season, winning just nine times this season and struggling to move away from a relegation struggle. They’ve won just one game in their past 11, beating Doncaster on Saturday, but have done enough to avoid pulling properly pulled into a relegation battle due to the poor form of their opponents tomorrow evening.

Goals have been really hard for Shrewsbury to come by, with the side finding the net just 26 times this season. Their recent form has improved in this regard with just two goals in their past five matches. They’ve been fairly tight at the other end of the pitch with just 36 goals conceded but without a regular goalscorer they haven’t been able to push any higher than the bottom half this season.

Can Tranmere begin the great escape?

Tranmere currently occupy 21st place, sitting in the relegation zone for much of this season and struggling to find results. They are eight points adrift at the moment but don’t look like finding the form to save themselves as they currently are winless in 11 games, claiming just three points in that time.

The side have struggled in the final third, netting just 29 times in 31 games but they will be hoping that the arrival of James Vaughan will help in this regard with the striker netting for the first time at the weekend in their defeat to Wycombe. The 56 goals the team have conceded have also been a big factor without much hope for the team as they try and avoid relegation back to League Two.

Will either team be able to find the goals to win this game?

There doesn’t look like there will be an abundance of goals in this fixture with the two teams scoring just 55 goals between them this term. Shrewsbury in particular have struggled across the board in the final third but Tranmere have scored just 10 times away from home this year and we’re backing that low scoring trend to continue with under 1.5 goals in this one.

With both teams looking quite blunt in attack and Shrewsbury being adept in defence we really can’t see many goals in this one. In fact, we’re backing this match to end goalless as both sides see their woes in front of goal continue as the season begins to draw to a close.
