Slavia Prague vs FC Copenhagen Predictions

Slavia Prague can tighten their grip on a top two finish in Europa League Group C if they can beat Danish side FC Copenhagen for the second time in the space of a few weeks at the Eden Arena on Thursday.

Slavia are currently just behind Russian outfit Zenit in the standings, having won two of their three Group C matches so far. Last time out, Slavia came away from Denmark with a hugely valuable 1-0 win at FC Copenhagen’s expense.

It was Slavia’s second 1-0 win of the competition after they had beaten French club Bordeaux on Match Day 1 by the same scoreline. Sandwiched in between those two victories was Slavia’s only loss in the Group to date.

Coincidentally, their defeat in Russia against Zenit also finished 1-0, though Slavia came out on the wrong side of the slimmest of scorelines on that occasion. That pattern of low scoring matches involving the Červenobílí is likely to continue this week.

Domestically, Slavia have been impressing too – their defeat to Zenit was their only loss in six, and the Czech league leaders are currently in the midst of a five match unbeaten streak.

Their home form has been a particular highlight and Slavia have only been beaten once in ten on their own patch. In fact, Manager Jindřich Trpišovský has watched his side emerge victorious on each of their last six matches at the Eden Arena in total.

FC Copenhagen’s task on Thursday looks extremely tough then. The Danes are just two points behind Slavia in Europa League Group C as things stand, but a defeat in Prague on Thursday would suddenly make qualification a near impossible feat.

Manager Ståle Solbakken will be buoyed by the fact that his team’s only win in the Group so far came away from home against Bordeaux, though the French club have lost 100% of their Group matches so far.

When FC Copenhagen hosted Slavia Prague on October 25th, a solitary Jan Matouek strike for the away side was enough to separate the teams. That recency of that contest gives us plenty to work with in terms of analysing Thursday’s second meeting between the clubs.

Slavia’s six game winning streak at the Eden Arena should have their players thinking they can beat anyone there at present. Slavia’s win against FC Copenhagen in Denmark will still be fresh in the players’ minds too.

The momentum from those two factors combine to make Slavia favourites to win on Thursday, though like 100% of their Europa League matches so far in Group C, goals are likely to be at a premium.

All three of Slavia’s Group C matches finished with under 2.5 goals scored in them. Similarly, two of FC Copenhagen’s three Group games finished under the same goal total. With that considered, we recommend backing the Slavia Prague win & under 2.5 goal combination. Our correct score prediction is tipping the home side to beat FC Copenhagen 1-0 for the second time in a row.
