Stoke can record league double over Latics

Stoke recorded a 1-0 victory over Wigan in the reverse league fixture back in November and Alex Neil’s side are fancied to record the league double on Tuesday.

Stoke have lost two of their last eight in the league (W3, D3), those three victories came against sides with an average league position of 7^th, they now face a big drop in grade when they take on the divisions bottom side, Wigan.

The Potters have kept three clean sheets in their last five league matches and may well add to that tally against a Wigan side who have scored one goal in their last five away matches.

Wigan’s 1-0 defeat at Blackpool on Saturday all but sealed the Latics’ fate who now face an immediate return to League One. Wigan must win their remaining four matches to have a glimmer of hope of avoiding the drop but are faced with a difficult trip to Stoke on Tuesday and arrive in dreadful form.

The Latics have lost their last three league matches, they have taken one point from their last six Championship away matches, failing to score in five of those contests, it’s hard to see Shaun Maloney’s side getting a result here.

Stoke to win in the outright market will be the main selection for Tuesday’s game at the Bet365 Stadium, with a 2-0 home victory forming the forming the correct prediction.
