Rennes Draw No Bet

Reason for tip

Rennes have won three and drawn three of their last six away Ligue 1 matches, making them the obvious favourites for all three points. But, although Strasbourg have lost their last four home Ligue 1 matches, they should be strengthened by the return of five players from injury or suspension. Patrick Vieira’s side won at Nantes in their last game and can make things tough for Rennes, hence the draw no bet option is recommended.

Rennes 2-1

Reason for tip

Strasbourg have been a streaky side all season and enter this game having lost five of their last seven Ligue 1 games. Their 3-1 win at Nantes last time out offers hope that they can compete with Rennes, who have scored two or more goals in three of their lats five away games. A 2-1 defeat is probably the most likely outcome based on the form of the two clubs right now

Strasbourg vs Rennes Predictions

  • Rennes are unbeaten in their last six away league games with three wins and three draws
  • Strasbourg have lost their last four home Ligue 1 matches
  • However, Patrick Vieira’s side have been boosted by the return to fitness of several players this week

Rennes have the talent to take three points

Rennes look a good bet on paper to win at Strasbourg on Sunday, but the home side may be able to deny the visitors all three points.

Julian Stephan’s side are undoubtedly the more talented group and arrive with some solid away form, having not lost any of their last six road games. Rennes drew their last two away assignments, but they were tough ones against Paris Saint-Germain and Lille, who are streets ahead of Strasbourg in every department.

They could and perhaps should win to boost their own chances of playing in one of Europe’s important competitions again next season, but there are some nagging doubts around whether they can be trusted at a shade of odds against.

Vieira’s side could be better than advertised

Strasbourg should have several players back from the treatment table and naughty step in time for this match as they battle to remain in Ligue 1. Defenders Abakar Sylla and Ismael Doukoure could both return and play some part this weekend while attacker Moise Sahi is also close to full fitness. Midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko and attacker Junior Mwanga are also free to return from suspension.

And Rennes openly admit that they have a battle on their hands to keep hold of their talented stars like Desire Doue, who is one of several to have been recently linked with moves away this summer.

Therefore, it may be prudent to back Rennes in the Draw no Bet market this Sunday because Strasbourg could prove a more stubborn opponent than they, or anyone else, expects.
