Sunderland scoring for fun

Sunderland’s form in front of goal lately has been superb. They put three past Wycombe but only drew at the weekend, while two of their last three home games have ended 5-0, against Sheffield Wednesday and Morecambe.

Lee Johnson’s side have the best home record in League One, picking up 31 points from an available 36, while they have netted 29 times in those twelve outings.

The Black Cats do have some defensive issues, as shown by that draw at Adams Park on Saturday, but they have won four of their last five at the Stadium of Light and another bold showing is expected.

Lincoln still in danger

Lincoln picked up their first win in nine on Saturday by beating Oxford 2-0, but they remain just two points above the relegation zone and have not tasted success on the road in three outings.

Michael Appleton’s side have lost four of their 11 away matches while they have only picked up four points on their travels against teams who are in the top half of League One.

On top of that, the Imps have kept just one clean sheet in their last 15 league matches away from Sincil Bank – not the best record ahead of taking on a rampant Sunderland side.

Goals are very much expected in this one, as is a home win, so I predict Sunderland will win with three or more goals in the match, selecting 3-1 to the Black Cats as a correct score.
