Inter Milan to Win

Reason for tip

AC Milan have lost two of their last three games and conceded six goals across those fixtures. They look in no shape at all to challenge an Inter side that has won 21 and drawn five games since their last Serie A defeat and can clinch the Scudetto in this clash.

Inter Milan 2-1

Reason for tip

Milan have won five straight derbies and not conceded more than one goal in four of them. They bring Europe’s highest defence into the game and can restrict Milan to one goal at the very most. The Nerazzurri have scored exactly two goals in their last three league games, which looks like a solid benchmark for a 2-1 Inter win.

Lautaro Martinez To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Inter’s 26-goal top scorer Lautaro Martinez has scored seven goals in his last 13 appearances against AC Milan. He will be fresh after missing last week’s league game through suspension and should get some joy against a Milan defence that has not kept only one clean sheet in their last seven matches.

Inter can be crowned against their greatest rivals

Inter Milan can complete a now inevitable march towards their 20th Serie A title on Monday night by piling more misery on AC Milan in one of the most hotly-anticipated derbies in years.

The Nerazurri enter the clash on a 26-game unbeaten run in Serie A and with five straight victories over their local rivals.

It took months for Stefan Pioli to rebuild the Rossoneri’s confidence following their 5-1 loss in the season’s first derby, but just as he seemed to be getting Milan into a position of pride again the wheels fell off.

Martinez may be the main dangerman

Two defeats to Roma in the Europa League quarter-finals either side of a fairly embarrassing 3-3 draw with second-bottom Sassuolo mean AC Milan are in poor shape right now.

Inter may also be smarting a little from dropping points in last weekend’s 2-2 home draw with relegation-threatened Cagliari. But Inzaghi gets suspended duo Benjamin Pavard and Lautaro Martinez back for this clash and they should help make the difference.

Martinez, who has scored 26 goals in all competitions this season, often reserves his best for Milan derbies and will be looking to score a ninth goal against the Rossoneri with seven of his previous eight coming in the last 13 clashes.
