Draw

Reason for tip

Both Crystal Palace and Leicester are embroiled in the Premier League relegation battle and were in awful form before the international break. Palace will be hoping for a new-manager bounce from returning boss Roy Hodgson but the likelihood is another stalemate with the Eagles having posted nine draws in the Premier League this season.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Goals have been at a premium in matches involving Crystal Palace this term with the Eagles having seen an average of just 2.14 goals per game in the Premier League this term, so 1-1 looks a decent correct score prediction.

Crystal Palace vs Leicester City Predictions

  • Crystal Palace have recorded nine draws in this season’s Premier League
  • Leicester have failed to win any of their last six matches in all competitions
  • Three of Crystal Palace’s Premier League games in 2023 have finished 1-1
  • Crystal Palace’s league games have averaged only 2.14 goals per game this season

Hodgson takes charge of Eagles again

To the frustration of large parts of the Crystal Palace fanbase, Roy Hodgson rejoined the club as their manager until the end of the season recently and the former England manager’s first match in charge is against Leicester at Selhurst Park.

Palace drafted in Hodgson to replace the outgoing Patrick Vieira, who was dismissed earlier this month following a 12-match winless sequence in charge of the club.

As a result of that dire run, the Eagles find themselves embroiled in one of the fiercest Premier League relegation battles in recent memory with every club below them at risk of the drop this season.

Selhurst Park set for first of a handful of six-pointers

Among the sides in the battle at the bottom are Palace’s next opponents Leicester and it is the first of numerous six-pointers facing the club in the coming months.

Indeed, eight of Crystal Palace’s remaining ten Premier League matches this season are against teams currently stationed in the bottom half and a run of a few defeats would leave them very much in the danger zone.

Leicester have also had a tough time of it in the Premier League this season and, although not helped by injuries, it will have come as a surprise to many to still see Brendan Rodgers in the Foxes dugout at this stage of the campaign.

The Midlands outfit are just a point above the Premier League relegation zone in 17th, having played a game more than West Ham, who are 18th.

Struggling pair could be tough to separate

Heading into the recent international break, Leicester City were on a six-game winless run in all competitions, so it is fair to say neither side warrant backing in this clash at Selhurst Park.

With that in mind, the draw could be the best bet.

Palace have already drawn nine matches this season – including the reverse fixture with Leicester back in October which finished 0-0.

Fans of the home side may be hoping for a new-manager bounce going into this game but the reality is Palace are a team short on confidence and goals with Wilfried Zaha their top Premier League scorer with only six strikes.

The lack of attacking verve in both camps points to a stalemate, while 1-1 is a decent correct score prediction given Palace’s league fixtures this season are averaging just over two goals per game and they have scored only once in their last five games in the top flight.
