Fulham vs Millwall Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in five of the last seven Fulham home league games.
  • Both teams have scored in four of the last six Millwall away Championship contests.
  • Millwall have scored in 11 of their 14 Championship away games this term.

Fulham’s firepower should leave Lions empty-handed

Fulham might need to dig deep to overcome an awkward Millwall side when the leaders return to Championship action at Craven Cottage on Tuesday.

Marco Silva’s men were taught a lesson by Premier League pacesetters Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday, but remain the cream of their own division – particularly when going forward. Their trip to the Etihad will show Silva that there’s still plenty of work to do if they do achieve promotion with defensive frailties again evident in Manchester.

The Cottagers conceded from a set-piece, a penalty following a careless challenge and a counter-attack. Silva must be aware that the incredible number of goals Fulham are scoring in the league is papering over the cracks that are opening up all over his side’s defence.

Both teams to score makes sense here

That’s why taking both teams to score at around Evens looks a profitable path for this midweek matchup with mid-table Millwall. The Lions have conceded at least two goals in three of their last five Championship away games, but have scored in 11 of 14 on the road this term.

Fulham scored 22 times in four games during an 11-day purple patch in January, but can generally be trusted to get at least a couple at home. Championship top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic was rested on one of the two occasions this season that they have failed to hit the back of their opponents’ net and Silva substituted him midway through the second half on Saturday to suggest the Serbian will start this one.

A 2-1 Fulham win is taken as the recommended correct score play because Millwall have only conceded more than two goals on their travels twice – from 14 games – this season.
