Liverpool and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Tottenham have seen both teams score in each of their last seven matches, while they meet a Liverpool side who have seen both teams score in five of their last six matches in the league. Spurs have conceded 11 times across their last three, picking up just one point. Meanwhile, Liverpool have won each of their last three despite conceding in each and the Reds have won 13 of their last 20 clashes with Spurs.

Liverpool 2-1

Reason for tip

Liverpool have conceded in six of their last seven matches, but they’ve not conceded twice in three straight games at home since 2012. The Reds have scored at least twice in each of their last five home league games, while Spurs have scored in each of their last seven.

  • The Reds have won 10 of their 15 home league games this season
  • Both teams have scored in Spurs’ last seven league games

Liverpool boost European hopes

It’s been a tough campaign for Liverpool, but the Reds have won three straight games to haul themselves into the European mix. They’re seventh following a midweek victory at West Ham, which put them just seven points shy of the top four. While it’s late in the day, Jurgen Klopp’s side have raised hopes of a strong finish to the campaign.

Of course, their shortcomings are still on show. The Reds aren’t great defensively, largely due to mistakes in their backline and issues with their creaking midfield. The Reds may have won their last three Premier League matches, but they conceded in each match. The last time they won four games in a row was in November and December earlier this season, also conceding in all four victories.

Spurs top-four hopes on the ropes

Tottenham may have fought back from 2-0 down against Man United in midweek, but their chances of making the Champions League are fading by the game. Spurs have taken one point from their last three matches, including last weekend’s 6-1 hammering by Newcastle.

Spurs have fallen six points shy of fourth despite playing two more games and the club look to dug themselves into a mess after moving onto their second interim manager of the season. Their chances of returning to the Champions League hang on this trip, where they’re at risk of falling behind the Reds.

The outlook isn’t great for Ryan Mason’s side, as Spurs have won just two of their last 35 away league games against Liverpool, losing 23. They’ve already conceded more away goals (31) than in any Premier League season since 2008/09. That could be about to get a lot worse, with the Reds scoring 11 times across their last three games.

Reds to storm to victory

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 20 Premier League games against Spurs, picking up 13 victories. They also boast one of the best home records in the league despite their struggles, winning 10 of their 15 matches at Anfield in the Premier League this term. However, they have only managed one clean sheet in their last seven league games, so there’s little faith left in their backline.

Luckily, Liverpool are scoring enough to ease the issues at the back. Mohamed Salah has scored eight goals in his last eight home games in all competitions, finding the net at least once in each of his last six. Since Salah joined Liverpool in 2017, no player has scored more Premier League goals against Tottenham than the Egyptian (7). He netted both goals in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Spurs in the reverse fixture and is a good bet to score anytime on Sunday.

While the Reds have been defensively leaky of late, they’ve not conceded 2+ goals in three consecutive home league games since September 2012. Back Spurs to score a single goal in a defeat here, with Liverpool to win 2-1 by correct score prediction.
