      Manchester United vs Huddersfield Predictions

To say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first match in charge of Manchester United was a success would be an understatement. The Norwegian returned to his former employers as caretaker manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world on Saturday, and Cardiff were made to see how much he has grown as they were subjected to a 5-1 demolition job.

It was the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement that Manchester United have scored 5 goals in a Premier League game, and it granted them their first win in the post-Mourinho era. They have won just 2 of their last 7 games in the Premier League though, and the previous failings at the club make qualifying for the Champions League next season look like a mountainous challenge.

The Red Devils are currently 8 points off the top 4, although with matches against Bournemouth and Newcastle following this clash there is a chance that they could close that gap a bit.

Huddersfield won’t be relishing the opportunity of spending Boxing Day at Old Trafford. The Terriers lost again at the weekend against a resurgent Southampton outfit, making it 5 defeats on the trot and leaving them 2nd from bottom in the Premier League table. They are 4 points adrift of safety and have just 2 wins to their name all season, so it’s not looking promising for the underdogs.

Away from home they have won once this season, losing 5 times and conceding 17 goals in the process. Considering Manchester United’s confidence building hammering on Saturday, we think this could be a comfortable win for the hosts.

Mourinho’s negative tactics came under fire a lot, but the fact remains that Manchester United have seen 64 goals in their 18 games so far. Only Cardiff have seen more goals, although the main reason for this high goals average has been their atrocious defending.

Nevertheless, 6 of their 8 home games and all but 3 of their total league games this season have seen at least 3 goals scored in them. Huddersfield have seen at least 3 goals in half of their away matches, so we think backing Manchester United to Win and Over 2.5 Goals looks a very good option along with a 3-1 correct score predictions.
