Monaco to Win

Reason for tip

Monaco were knocked off the top of Ligue 1 after last week’s 1-0 defeat to Nice, but they should be able to come out on top against Marseille, who continue to struggle away from the Stade Velodrome.

Monaco 2-0

Reason for tip

Marseille have to pick themselves up after their 4-0 loss at Paris Saint-Germain last time out and a visit to Monaco could prove difficult. Expect the home side to hold firm against a team struggling for goals and take the points with a 2-0 victory.

Monaco vs Marseille Predictions

  • Marseille have won just one of their last eight Ligue 1 away games
  • Six of Monaco’s last eight Ligue 1 home games have featured at least three goals
  • Both teams have scored in just one of Monaco’s last six home league matches

Monaco looking to get back on track

It has been an encouraging start to the Ligue 1 season for Monaco but the motivation should be there to get over a couple of recent disappointments when they entertain Marseille on Saturday.

Adi Hutter’s side looked to be on course for a victory at Lorient before they were pegged back by a home equaliser eight minutes into injury time and then they suffered their first defeat of the campaign when they fell 1-0 at home to Nice last time out.

However, they should be in a good enough place to bounce back as Marseille are struggling for goals and are licking their wounds after a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in their last game.

Visitors may lack attacking punch

Marseille loved being on their travels at the start of the year but have gone off the rails since and have not won any of their last six Ligue 1 road games.

Their tally of seven goals from their opening six games is also the lowest of any team in the top half of the table so they could struggle to make their presence felt at the Louis II Stadium despite the summer addition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Monaco kept clean sheets in wins over Strasbourg and Lens and can do so again, with a 2-0 correct-score selection favoured.
