AC Milan and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

AC Milan have won nine of their last 13 home Serie A matches, conceding goals in seven of those games. They shipped three at home to Genoa and one when struggling Cagliari visited earlier in May, but scored eight goals across those fixtures. Salernitana, who have lost four of their last five away league matches, have managed to scored in their last three Serie A games, including in a 1-1 draw at Juventus.

AC Milan 4-1

Reason for tip

After scoring eight goals in their last two home league games and with Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao recalled to the line-up, Milan should overpower Salernitana’s inconsistent defence and score at least four goals.  The Garnets showed in their 1-1 draw at Juventus that they can trouble elite teams at the back and could nick one here in a 4-1 defeat.

Milan stars set for San Siro farewells

Several AC Milan players could be saying farewell to the San Siro on Saturday and they will want to round off their Rossoneri careers with a handsome win against basement boys Salernitana.

Simon Kjaer and Olivier Giroud have already confirmed their departures, but Ismael Bennacer is reportedly tempted to move on this summer and there has still been no announcement about the future of striker Luka Jovic, whose Milan contract expires in a month’s time.

This game is also likely to be the last in charge for Stefano Pioli, who has been effectively a dead man walking since Milan were knocked out of the Europa League by Roma and lost the derby in the same week. Pioli will be determined to finish his five-year tenure on a high and there is no better opportunity to do it than against an apparently demotivated team like Salernitana who have been relegated for weeks.

Garnets can get a goal

The Garnets, however, put in a spirited display in a 1-1 draw at Juventus two weekends ago and could be in the mood to spoil Pioli’s send-off – although you never quite know with Stefano Colantuono’s men. On chances created, Juve should have wiped the floor with them in Turin, but they scored a good goal in the first half and clung onto their lead until stoppage time.

Given Milan have been leaking goals at the back of late, it is not too much to expect Salernitana to get on the scoresheet at the San Siro. They have registered in their last three games – their longest scoring run since January.

But with Giroud and Rafael Leao almost certainly restored to the Milan starting line-up after being rested for last week’s 3-1 defeat in Torino, there is plenty of firepower for the hosts to romp to a comfortable victory. And having scored three and five in each of their last two home league games, this one could end up in a 4-1 rout.
