Armenia vs Gibraltar Predictions

Armenia take on Gibraltar at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan on Saturday looking to take maximum points and top spot in UEFA Nations League Group 4.

The Armenians opened their Nations League account with a hard fought 2-1 win at home to Liechtenstein in early September, before losing 0-2 to Macedonia in Skopje just three days later.

Armenia are handily placed in second spot in Group after collecting three points from the first six available, though they would need a big win against Gibraltar this week to turn around their negative goal difference and move to the summit of the table.

The Armenian’s loss in Skopje was only their second reverse in nine international fixtures. Seven of those contests were played in their homeland however, and that prolonged run of home fixtures has helped to add a shine to their recent results.

Armenia have lost just one of their last seven at home in total, though the level of opponent they face during that period has to be taken into consideration. Belarus, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova and Liechtenstein aren’t exactly international big hitters.

The Armenians are however, big favourites to extend that run this weekend against a weak Gibraltar outfit. Gibraltar are rooted to the bottom of League D Group 4 after successive 2-0 defeats against Macedonia and Liechtenstein respectively.

Gibraltar have won of the worst overall records at international level, winning just one of their last twenty-seven fixtures in total since September 2014. The minnows have never won an international away match in the nation’s history and that horrible statistic is unlikely to change on Saturday.

In a game where odds of value are difficult to find, we’re tipping the second period to be the highest scoring half this weekend. Gibraltar have developed a habit of digging in to make their opponent work for their goals, especially away from home. 69% of the 32 goals they conceded in their last seven international away games were registered in the second half.

Armenia have only scored 3 times in total in their last 6 fixtures, though Armen Gyulbudaghyants’ men should have more joy against a Gibraltar defence that has conceded an average of 5 goals per game across their last 13 away fixtures. With that considered, our correct score prediction is forecasting a 3-0 win for Armenia.
