Atletico Madrid vs Levante Predictions

• Five of Atletico’s last seven home league fixtures have included at least three goals

Atletico should canter to win

A hard-fought 4-3 victory over Getafe last time out saw Hermoso score an 89th minute winner for 10-man Atletico Madrid as they picked up their seventh home win in 11 attempts.

Diego Simeone’s side have been strong at the Wanda, in fact losing just two of their last eight there in all competitions, winning five.

They are still conceding too many, managing just one clean sheet in the most recent half a dozen of those fixtures, but they are scoring plenty too, with 12 of their last 15 at all venues including at least three goals.

Levante sinking without a trace

Levante suffered their sixth defeat in seven league games at the weekend as they lost 4-2 to Real Betis, with five of those games seeing Alessio Lisci’s side concede at least three goals.

They have got, in fact, the worst defensive record in La Liga. From their 11 away matches, they have conceded 29 goals, plus a further 21 from 12 outings on home soil.

They remain winless on their travels, losing nine and drawing two, a run that includes seven successive defeats, six of which have included at least three goals and five of which have seen them concede at least three.

I expect a bit of a drubbing in this one. Levante’s defence simply will not handle Atleti’s strikeforce, so I predict a home win with three or more goals in the match, selecting 3-1 to the hosts as a correct score.
