Auxerre vs Grenoble Predictions

• Auxerre have lost only one of their last 17 home Ligue 2 matches (Won 10, Drawn 6)
• Grenoble were thrashed 4-0 at home by Paris FC last weekend.
• GF38 scored at least once in 11 of their last 16 L2 away games

Auxerre can build on winning start  

Auxerre host Grenoble in Ligue 2 on Monday in a match between two sides that made contrasting starts to their campaigns.

The Burgundians, who finished sixth last season, began with a good 2-1 away win at Amiens, profiting from a defensive error to complete a second-half comeback.

There were some doubts over Auxerre’s chances of challenging for promotion after the sale of last season’s 19-goal top scorer Michaël Le Bihan to Dijon, but they were clinical with their chances.

Jean-Marc Furlan’s men had enjoyed some pre-season success against Bretigny Foot (4-0), Epinal (3-1) and Créteil (3-0) prior to two friendly defeats to Reims (1-4) and Orléans (1-3), so last weekend’s result regains some momentum.

Grenoble were embarrassed at the Stade des Alpes by a rampant Paris FC side in a 4-0 humbling.

The coach that took GF38 to a surprise fourth-place finish last season moved on in the summer and replacement Italian Maurizio Jacobacci did not manage to win a game in pre-season either.

The visitors should be boosted by the return of Yoric Ravet from suspension and they did sign forward Joris Correa in midweek, but we don’t think there is enough confidence in the ranks to take this.

Auxerre’s home form last season (10 wins, 6 Draws, 3 defeats) suggests they are a good price at around Evens against a GF38 side yet to find their feet.

We’re predicting a 2-1 success for the hosts because Grenoble should have more potency in attack this week after adding Correa.
