• Cardiff City haven’t lost to Barnsley in their last 8 meetings, winning five and drawing three.

Relegation looks inevitable for the hosts

Barnsley begin this matchday at the foot of the Championship table and eight points adrift of 21st-placed Reading. They’ve now gone 11 Championship games without a win and they’re playing as though they know their fate has been sealed. The poor ‘Tykes’ have also failed to score in four of their last five league fixtures at Oakwell (D2, L3), guaranteeing they enter February as the only side yet to hit double figures in terms of goals scored at home this campaign.

The visitors have struggled defensively this season and have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 26 competitive outings. However, they will be in a buoyant mood after Sunday’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
That said, Cardiff travel to Yorkshire winless in four road trips (D2, L2), with the men from South Wales conceding twice beyond the hour mark in both defeats. It would be a surprise if that scenario was to play out again though, as Cardiff are unbeaten in seven trips to Oakwell (W5, D2).

Away victory on the cards

We simply have no faith in the Barnsley side and think their inefficiencies in an attacking sense will cost them once again here. Cardiff City aren’t exactly the most convincing side and leak goals themselves, but we think that Steve Morison’s side should do enough to secure a win here.
